The Malibu mansion that once belonged to the artist formerly known as Kanye West has recently changed hands, sparking significant interest in its restoration plans. Bo Belmont, the new owner, has made headlines for his intentions to return the property to its original architectural design, distancing it from the controversial modifications made by West, who now goes by Ye. The sale of this Tadao Ando-designed house was finalized for $21 million, significantly lower than its initial listing price of $53 million.

Belmont's plans include undoing many of the drastic changes that Ye implemented during his ownership. These alterations, which included removing windows, doors, and even plumbing, were deemed by some as detrimental to the home's original integrity. Belmont has expressed his goal to restore the mansion to its former glory while addressing the significant structural and cosmetic issues left behind.

The property, located on Malibu Road, has a storied history, not just due to its famous previous owner but also because of Belmont's own colorful past. He was previously involved in legal troubles, including a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon. Now, Belmont aims to restore the mansion, collaborating with Marmol Radziner, who was responsible for its initial design, with the hope of flipping it for a profit that benefits his investors.
