The latest mansion to be the subject of our dive into Los Angeles mansions with property tax bills over $1 million a year is the 50,000-square-foot mansion known as Fleur de Lys. This opulent estate, located in the prestigious Holmby Hills neighborhood, has been likened to a miniature version of Versailles, complete with stunning formal gardens, a sprawling lawn, and a majestic 600-foot tree-lined driveway leading to its exquisite limestone façade.

The estate boasts an impressive array of features, including 12 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, and a grand ballroom capable of accommodating up to 500 guests. Among its many luxurious amenities are a two-story library, a state-of-the-art movie theater, a music room, and a dance studio—all nestled within a sprawling 4.9-acre property. Notably, the cobblestones adorning the courtyard were crafted from granite stones salvaged from the streets of Manhattan during a major sewer system overhaul. In 2014, Fleur de Lys made headlines when it sold for a staggering $102 million, marking the highest residential sale in Southern California at that time, with annual property taxes of approximately $1.12 million.

The estate was originally named Fleur de Lys by its previous owner, Suzanne Saperstein, who had the mansion custom-built in the early 2000s with her then-husband David Saperstein. The building process was extensive, taking the couple five years to acquire adjacent parcels of land, followed by several more years of construction to bring their vision to life. Unfortunately, the Sapersteins divorced shortly after the home was completed, leading to a series of ups and downs in the property's market journey.
